How to Be Photogenic in Your Photos

(Pictured here at 20 weeks pregnant)

Being photogenic sometimes is not as easy as it seems. Some people, have it and some people just don't. If you are one of the ones who feel you lack the photogenic gene, you are still in luck! Because there are things that you can do to enhance your photos to get that perfect snap.

I have always thought of myself as a photogenic person, especially since a young age. I found that I not only enjoy being behind the camera, as a photographer, but I love being in front as well! Here are some of the things I have learned.

TO SMILE OR NOT TO SMILE?
Yes, that IS the question! You may be one of the ones who hate your smile so you aim to close your mouth in every pic. My suggestion? Why not try something new and flash those pearly whites? If you have still come to the conclusion that an open mouthed smile is not for you, then learn to work the closed mouth smile. Either way, they both make a huge difference.

Another thing you must consider when smiling is:
Does it come across fake or real?
This might sound silly but you can easily tell. A faux smile is not as appealing as one that looks genuine. Here is my best tip for a genuine appearing smile, even when you just arent feeling it.

LAUGH OUT LOUD!

YES!

Why? The over-exaggerated action of a laughing out loud appearance actually makes for some pretty darn great photos.

Next up is your pose. Posture is everything. Actually, posture and posing says a LOT about a person. Find your signature pose (what works for you) and go with it. My pose typically involves my hand on my hip.

Make sure your legs are not doing anything crazy either. The way you stand may have some slimming affect, depending on the stance you choose.

Lastly, put some "umph" into your photo. What I mean is, dont be boring! Dont be afraid to use your hands, to have some attitude and dont just stand there. Most of all-

HAVE FUN!
